Johniday!

John is out today! You can safely tune your radio to KUT.
He just can’t help himself, can he? It’s some sort of psychological issue. Today he spoke over at least 5 songs, the last straw for me was his stupid comment over “Stairway To Heaven.” Ok, okok, we all get it, Paradise is a walled garden.
The man just doesn’t care about anything but how he sounds and if he remembers that he’s said something 15 times already, he certainly doesn’t care and just continues to drone on and on and on about the same crap. This paradise thing today is a perfect example of John’s inability to control his commentary. Does he really think he’s providing insightful commentary?
Perhaps all of us with compete mental facilities are not his target audience. I think he’s going for the Alzheimer’s demographic.
John, please stop reading poetry over the air. You’re putting people to sleep with your boring monotone drone.
Aielli is at his usual the last couple of weeks, speaking over the music often and having uninteresting, dull conversations with his listeners.
Yesterday he announced that Magwai was a local Austin band and started the song. About 1 minute into the song he was compelled to interrupt over the music that he had received a phone call telling him that they were from Glasgow, then allowed the song to continue. Nope, he couldn’t wait until the song was over to correct his mistake. It’s always about John, never about the music.
Please retire, John. Please, for the sake of the music.
I’ll bitch and moan about John Aielli but I love KUT. I’ve been a member here and there over the last 30 years, first joining when I was in high school with money from bailing hay over the summer. I think I joined during Phil Music after the city council meeting back when Phil Music really was fill music. I remember anxiously awaiting the end of the city council meetings telling the politicians to shut up so I could hear Phil Music.
I donated tonight to my all time favorite radio show, Left of the Dial and the best DJ on the radio, Jeff McCord.
But I did mention that John Aielli needs to go. You should too.
More on complaints to KUT soon.
Yet another new record today. I did not think I could beat my earlier record of 8 minutes, but John blew it out of the water today! I’ve been busy at work and didn’t turn on the radio until 11:25am or so, and as soon as I turned it on I hear John Aielli doing his typical “rythm scat” where he gives us his lousy imitation of some tune.. “bum bum bum bum”
He can’t just play the song he’s referring to because he thinks it’s much better to just hum out the tune himself since he’s such a musical genius and everyone needs to hear his interpretation. Whatever, it’s annoying as hell and the way he has the bass turned way up on his mic makes it doubly so.
The new record, turn on the radio and hear John “bum bum bumm”ing away, immediately turn off the radio.. 3 seconds! Way to go, John!
What’s your John Annoyance record?
Just another example of why John is so annoying to most of us: “I was up at the crack of dawn… I don’t know why they call it the crack of dawn, it sort of slides in. So I was up at the crack of dawn… it looks like a crack through a window… and the birds were going nuts!”
Jesus, the guy just loves to hear himself speak.
“You should read books.”
That’s John’s outstanding intellectual commentary for today. I actually made it to 11:23am today until that comment insulted my intelligence yet again. Good job, John!
I switched off KUT at 9:08am today! Thanks to the “Whole World in His Hands” marathon of craptacular music.
I made it to 11:15am today and finally had to turn Eklektikos off. I suppose with the extended Johniday I had built up a tolerance for John’s moronic commentary and enjoyed the show during his first week back. But he’s been slowly grating on my nerves all week and finally today he just insulted my intelligence one too many times.
It’s been a week. I’m sick of hearing about your damned vacation, John.
Sadly, the extended Johniday for this year is over. I hope John had a relaxing vacation, performed some satisfying gigs, and comes back refreshed and with a whole bunch of new music to share with us. I also hope he’ll resist the urge to make his show about himself and instead weaves a clever, fun, twisty, themed show like he used to do decades ago.
There sure was a lot of good music the last 6 weeks.
